NWPS 2009 Protégé Program

IFP/Seattle is now accepting applications for the filmmaker mentorship program for the 2nd annual Northwest Production Summit. The Summit, a partnership between WashingtonFilmWorks, the Mayor’s Office of Film and Music and the Seattle Int’l Film Festival, position Washington State as an industry destination where creativity flourishes and valuable business is conducted.

The centerpiece of the Summit will be an intimate – and invite only - three day symposium designed to introduce industry leaders in the independent film world. Last year’s participants included producers, executives, financiers and agents, such as Effie T. Brown (Rocket Science, Real Women Have Curves), Albert Berger (Little Miss Sunshine, Election) and Todd Hoffman (ICM).

IFP/Seattle will again be providing a mentorship program in which two IFP/Seattle members, selected through a competitive process, will be included in some of the symposium events. These protégés will have one-on-one time with our guests to ask questions, talk about projects, and gain valuable advice from these industry leaders.

To apply for the mentorship program, download the application as doc file version or .pdf file version, and follow the instructions. To be eligible for the NWPS mentorship, applicants must:

  • Be a current IFP/Seattle member
  • Be a director and/or producer
  • Have completed a film (short or feature) in the past 18 months

Protégés will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Past work/strength of work samples
  • Current projects
  • Interest in shooting films in Washington State
